There are
quite a few Simulation relation points of interest to mention, and I have
outlined them below.
SIM
Enhancements
The Simulation object has undergone a facelift as well as incorporates
some new features. In fact you will no longer find the SIM object
existing in the Catalog. It is instead more tightly integrated into
ToolBook such that you will now find it in the INSERT menu.
You will also find that you delete a SIM from a page (assuming you've
added one [and only one can be added to a page]) using the Edit menu.
Also, a new icon is now on the Toolbar to open the Simulation Editor
(optionally you can press F8)
The new SIM Editor UI allows you to see nearly all aspects of your
simulation settings without the need to open several dialogs like the
old SIM Editor required. This editor also can remain open while you
manipulate your page elements - the old one was Modal (meaning you had
to close the editor before manipulating your page objects).
SIM AutoBuilder Recorder
Okay, so that's a mouthful, but they had to call it something. This is
probably the biggest feature being added to ToolBook 2004. This
feature will permit you to build a Simulation by actually interacting
with another application. The utility (launched via the Start Menu)
will capture your interactions with the application you are doing your
simulation in, and save that information into a .TBR file (ToolBook
Recording file).
Once you record the Simulation, you need to import the recording into
ToolBook as a single simulation on a single page, or several
simulations spread across a series of pages. You can see the Simulation
from Recording... in the Insert menu as shown below.
